ADA Ramp Improvement Project

Project Details

This project will increase accessibility by using accessible design standards to improve sidewalk ramps throughout the city. This project includes the removal of non-ADA compliant ramps and the construction of new ramps, which will be ADA compliant. 

The project will take place in many areas including the near following intersections:

  • Roswell Street & 36th, 40th, 41st Avenue
  • 36th Avenue & Barba Street
  • Olsen Street & 40th, 41st Avenue
  • Johnson Creek Boulevard & Flavel Drive

King Road Improvements Open House

The city is designing a project to repave and add multiuse paths on King Road between 43rd Ave. and Linwood Ave. Drop-in during this open house to chat with the project team and learn more about the proposed improvements. 

Project Overview:

King Road & 42nd Avenue Safety Improvements

Project Details

This project will improve safety at the intersection of SE King Road and 42nd Avenue. Currently, only the eastbound leg of King Road is stop controlled with all other turning movements remaining uncontrolled and free flowing. The left turn from the westbound leg of King Road, the left turn from the northbound leg of King Road, and the through movement from the eastbound leg of King Road all pose significant risk for drivers navigating the intersection.

Waverly South

Project Details

The Waverly South project will provide street and utility improvements to the Waverly South area.  Street improvements will include repaving of deteriorated sections of Lava Drive and Waverly Court, and ADA upgrades to select sidewalks and ramps.  Utility improvements include upsizing of a water main on Riverway Lane from 2-inch to 6-inch, and rehabilitation of a sewer main compromised by tree roots along Riverway Lane.  Project design is planned for winter of 2024-2025, with construction anticipated for summer of 2025. 

2023 SSMP Improvements Project

Project Details

This project includes the repaving of 1.5 miles of new asphalt concrete pavement in various locations around Milwaukie and paint striping for pedestrian multi paths along Linwood Avenue and 43rd Avenue.

Waverly Heights Sewer System Reconfiguration

Project Details

The city is currently designing a project to upgrade public sewer pipes in the Waverly Heights neighborhood. The project will help protect public health, property, and the environment by restoring and repairing aging pipes, and reduce the likelihood of emergency sewer work in the future. The project will also help limit future wastewater service rate increases by limiting the amount of stormwater and groundwater Clackamas County Water Environment Services must treat

Meek Street Improvements - North Phase

Project Details

This phase of the Meek Street pipe installation project will continue work constructed in 2020 during the south phase. The north phase will install new stormwater facilities between the previously constructed pipeline at Meek Street and the Roswell Pond open space. The new facilities will include 3,380 feet of new mainline pipe and a new detention pond near SE Balfour Street.

King Road Improvements

Project Details

This project will repave the road and create improved connections for pedestrians and bicyclists. It will also build multi-use paths along King Road that connects to the recently constructed multi-use path on Linwood Avenue. This project includes funding from the Safe Access for Everyone (SAFE) program and the Street Surface Maintenance Program.
