Meek Street Improvements - North Phase

Update (10.26.2023)

Construction is scheduled to begin in November, 2023.  The contractor is anticipated to begin mobilizing and setting up erosion control and tree protection measures, and locating existing utilities in the early part of the month, and will begin vegetation and tree removal efforts for the new stormwater detention pond at the west end of SE Balfour Street in mid-November.  General detention pond excavation at SE Balfour and open trench pipe installation at Roswell are anticipated to begin in December.  Construction of the detention pond will require removal of 49 trees due to allow for stable grading and installation of infrastructure.  The project team has worked to retain as many existing trees as possible and will replant 54 new trees onsite to restore and expand tree canopy.

Update (7.21.2023)

Bidding for the construction contract closed in late June, with Tapani Inc. submitting the lowest bid.  Execution of a Public Improvements Contract with Tapani was authorized by City Council at the July 18 City Council meeting.   Construction of the project is anticipated begin in late summer or fall of 2023.

Update (4.11.2023) 

The project is in the final phases of design.
