Letter to the Community from City Council About COVID-19

To the residents of Milwaukie:

As you are likely aware, we are in the midst of a public health crisis unlike anything in modern history.

The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak of novel coronavirus or COVID-19 to be a pandemic. The State of Oregon has declared an emergency, Clackamas County has declared an emergency, and this evening, the City of Milwaukie is declaring an emergency.

City Council Declares State of Emergency

At its Tuesday, March 17 meeting, City Council declared a state of emergency for Milwaukie due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. The declaration ensures the City of Milwaukie will have access to regional, state and federal resources, as they are needed.

Milwaukie took preventative measures this week in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by closing city buildings and the Ledding Library, and directing many city staff to work remotely.
