Drunk driver crashes into parked MiPD Patrol Car

1/24/24

Milwaukie, OR - On 1/24/24 approximately 2:00 AM, Milwaukie Officers were onscene of a trespassing person near the 11500 Block of SE Linwood Ave. A resident had reported an unknown individual in their backyard. Officers set up a perimeter and located the suspect with the assistance of a thermal camera equipped drone and took them into custody without incident.

A cottage-cluster housing development is proposed that would produce 41 new homes. Residence types include 2 and 3-bedroom units geared toward families. The Project is requesting a parking modification for parking quantities beyond code maximum through a Type II process. The proposal is for 61 parking spaces rather than the maximum of 41 spaces.

Notice of System Development Charge (SDC) Consideration

NOTICE OF SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT CHARGE CONSIDERATION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the City of Milwaukie, pursuant to ORS 223.304, of its intent to consider changes in its system development charges.

MLK Day: Library Closed

City Hall (10501 SE Main St.), the Public Works Administration Building (6101 SE Johnson Creek Blvd.) and Ledding Library (10660 SE 21st Ave.) are closed in observance of the holiday. 

Body Worn Camera Footage Released to Pending Open Records Requests

Milwaukie, OR - Milwaukie Police have completed the review and redaction of applicable involved officer body-worn-camera (BWC) evidence of the incident involving police officer behavioral health hold and subsequent transport of Jean Descamps on December 13th, 2023. Open records requests were previously submitted by members of the media to view the BWC footage. The Descamps family and other involved parties of interest have had the opportunity to view the footage and those open records requests can now be honored.

Male dies during transport to Behavioral Health Facility

On 12/12/23, Milwaukie Police Officers were dispatched to an unwanted individual who was refusing to leave a local Hospital. Upon arriving, the Hospital staff informed Officers a male was being discharged from the emergency room and refused to leave the premises, even when offered a ride to a local shelter. Officers learned the male had several active arrest warrants issued by Clackamas and Multnomah County.

Councilor Shane Abma

Shane Abma appointed to Council position 3. On February 13, 2024, the Milwaukie City Council appointed Shane Abma to the vacant Council position 3. Abma was sworn-in by Municipal Court Judge Kimberly Graves immediately following the appointment by Council.  Abma previously served on Council from 2017 to 2019. 

Court Security & Prohibited Items

Security at Milwaukie City Hall is provided by Oregon Patrol Services. Security equipment in use includes hand-held metal detecting wands. If you have a pacemaker, tell the security officer about it before you are scanned. The security screening process may create long lines of people waiting to enter the building during peak hours. Please plan your court visit accordingly.
