Business Registration Fees

General information:

The business registration is a tax imposed by the City Council. A business registration is required for businesses operating within the city limits for commercial business, home-based business, and rental property owners.

Business registration is paid annually in advance of the registration year and is effective January 1 to December 31. A new business that begins July through December will pay half of the base fee, plus the cost of each employee and owner.

The library was originally started as a circulating library in 1889 by Alfred Lewelling.

Downtown Code Update

In fall 2012, City Council directed Planning and Engineering staff to prepare amendments to the downtown zones to address the limitations on ground floor uses and triggers for streetscape improvements. Council adopted the amendments in February 2013 by Ordinance 2059 and became effective in March 2013.
