Economic Development & Business Improvement Grants

The City of Milwaukie’s urban renewal agency—Milwaukie Redevelopment Commission—offers 50% matching grants to help offset costs associated with specific commercial construction and building projects. See grant programs and basic details below. An applicant’s business or property must be located within the Urban Renewal Area to take advantage of these programs. All programs are implemented on a first come, first served basis.

Trashion Show

The Milwaukie Arts Committee is hosting its first Trashion Show - "Recycling on the Runway" - in partnership with the Milwaukie Sustainability Fair on Sep. 7! Community members are invited to unleash their creativity by crafting wearable art using all recycled, upcycled and/or reused materials (with the exception of fasteners, such as tape and safety pins).

Prizes are awarded to winners in adult and youth categories. For more information, including the entry form and official rules, see the PDF below.

Electronic Storage Device (ESD) Detection K9

The Milwaukie Police Department investigations division is responsible for training and maintaining our Electronic Storage Device Detection K9, Flora. 

Flora is a mixed breed red fox lab and golden retriever specially trained to aid in searches for electronic data storage devices. She has been trained to detect even trace amounts of TPPO a chemical used in the manufacture of these devices and can even detect them in several feet of water.

Male with knife wound and injured female transported to local hospitals

Milwaukie, OR- On 6/21/24 at approximately 6:12 AM, Milwaukie Police were called to the 11900 block of SE Mcloughlin Blvd. on report of an injured male who asked a passerby for assistance summoning an ambulance. Police arrived and located an adult male in the area with a non-life threating significant cut on his arm. Officers learned the male and a female were in an altercation which involved a knife at an unhoused camp in the area. Police located the involved female nearby with minor injuries and both parties were transported to local hospitals.

Mural Unveiling at Milwaukie Community Center

A new mural on the Milwaukie Community Center (5440 SE Kellogg Dr.) will be unveiled on Tuesday, June 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. The community is invited to attend, and learn more about the mural, artist and community center. This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
