Project Details
  • Uses of Milwaukie Bay Park will be impacted during in-water construction from July 1 - Oct. 31.
  • A construction access route from the parking lot to the bank repair area will be closed to the public. This closure will include portions of the concrete path along the riverfront.
  • A portion of the existing boat trailer parking area will be used by the contractor for equipment and materials staging.
  • The low-water beach will be closed to public access for about 8 weeks while heavy equipment works in the area.

A 2015 storm event and high flows on the Willamette River damaged a portion of the riverbank in Milwaukie Bay Park . An emergency temporary stabilization design was constructed in 2016 while a more permanent solution could be designed. The City of Milwaukie is working with a design team to develop construction plans for stabilizing the bank, improving riparian habitat, and providing a durable access route so that park patrons can visit the low-water beach area. Once a contractor is selected and a staging plan is approved the City will publish this plan and the area will be fenced and signed to protect the safety of the public and the construction crews. The team is also pursuing federal and state permit authorizations for construction work below ordinary high water on the Willamette River.
