12 arrested during interagency Human Trafficking Mission

Milwaukie, OR – on 2/28/24, Milwaukie Police participated in an Interagency mission targeting human trafficking. Decoy officers posed as both sellers of sex and purchasers of sex on popular online dating sites and applications. Investigators directed those on the dating sites who agreed to sexual acts in exchange for money to two different locations in the City of Milwaukie.

Pedestrian struck by suspected impaired driver

Milwaukie, OR – on 1/28/24 at approximately 9:30 AM, Milwaukie Police Officers were called to the intersection of SE Monroe St. and SE Wood Ave. on the report a person was struck by a vehicle on the roadway. Officers arrived along with medical personnel and located a 67 year old female conscious and suffering from cuts and unknown internal injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Drunk driver crashes into parked MiPD Patrol Car

1/24/24

Milwaukie, OR - On 1/24/24 approximately 2:00 AM, Milwaukie Officers were onscene of a trespassing person near the 11500 Block of SE Linwood Ave. A resident had reported an unknown individual in their backyard. Officers set up a perimeter and located the suspect with the assistance of a thermal camera equipped drone and took them into custody without incident.

Body Worn Camera Footage Released to Pending Open Records Requests

Milwaukie, OR - Milwaukie Police have completed the review and redaction of applicable involved officer body-worn-camera (BWC) evidence of the incident involving police officer behavioral health hold and subsequent transport of Jean Descamps on December 13th, 2023. Open records requests were previously submitted by members of the media to view the BWC footage. The Descamps family and other involved parties of interest have had the opportunity to view the footage and those open records requests can now be honored.

City Hires Behavioral Health Specialist

Last month, the city hired Glen Suchanek as its first behavioral health specialist. This new, full-time position is dedicated to working with community members experiencing crisis, and connecting them with local and regional resources.
