Project Details

This project will improve safety at the intersection of SE King Road and 42nd Avenue. Currently, only the eastbound leg of King Road is stop controlled with all other turning movements remaining uncontrolled and free flowing. The left turn from the westbound leg of King Road, the left turn from the northbound leg of King Road, and the through movement from the eastbound leg of King Road all pose significant risk for drivers navigating the intersection. The city has developed a temporary solution by eliminating the northbound left turn and the eastbound through movement. The temporary installation includes plastic delineators and curb that prevent the northbound left and eastbound through movement at the intersection. Drivers who travel in this area are encouraged to use Llewelyn Street, Drake Street and 40th Avenue as alternatives. This installation will be temporary while the engineering department considers alternatives for permanent improvements to the intersection. For questions or to provide input for the permanent improvements, please contact Jeffrey Tolentino at tolentinoj@milwaukieoregon.gov.
