Community Development Projects
Community Development Projects include major capital improvements and planning projects. These projects typically involve staff from other departments (such as Planning, Engineering and Community Services), but are managed at the Community Development level because of their complexity or high profile.
Portland to Milwaukie Light Rail
The 7.3 mile long extension that will connect Downtown Milwaukie with Downtown Portland and the rest of the TriMet light rail network is scheduled to open in 2015.
The City of Milwaukie is leading a broad-based effort to restore Kellogg Creek, located in Milwaukie’s South Downtown, to its natural free-flowing condition.
For decades the City of Milwaukie and Clackamas County have planned to bring sewer service to the unincorporated parts of North Clackamas County. The project is now complete.
The City of Milwaukie has led an ongoing planning effort for South Downtown dating to 2008. . Council adopted the South Downtown Concept Plan on September 26, 2011, and directed staff to continue work on an implementation strategy.

Riverfront Park Development
Revitalizing Milwaukie's Riverfront Park.
Council unanimously voted to end the effort to bring pro baseball to Milwaukie on August 21, 2012, and asked City staff to refocus its energies on developing Milwaukie's Riverfront Park.
Jackson Street Improvement Project
The City of Milwaukie and TriMet partnered to rebuild the Jackson Street streetscape from 21st to Main Street, added new, high-quality shelters and other amenities, and improved the area for transit users and the general public.
