City Hall Building Update

City Hall could potentially relocate a couple blocks to the north along Main Street to take advantage of a unique opportunity. In late April 2019, the city was offered the chance to purchase the property at 10501 SE Main St., currently owned by Advantis. After a 5-month process that included direction from City Council, staff review, broker negotiations and public meetings, council authorized a purchase agreement on Aug. 27. The city is now in the due diligence phase and anticipates closing on the property this winter.

The applicant is seeking an update to the City’s Natural Resource (NR) administrative map to revise the boundary of the designated Habitat Conservation Area (HCA) for the subject property. Currently, the NR map shows the entire property to be designated as HCA, which does not appear accurate given the existing state of development and vegetation on the site.

Comprehensive Plan Update Process and Background

Milwaukie's Comprehensive Plan was last updated in 1989. Since that time, the city has experienced a number of significant changes, including the emergence of new housing types, industries, and the opening of the Orange Line light rail line.

In late 2015, the city began the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan.
