City Council Elections

May 2024 Council Special Election. On January 2, 2024, Council President Desi Nicodemus resigned from Council position 3. On January 16, Council adopted Resolution 4-2024 calling for a special election to fill the vacant position. This elections page has been updated with information about the May special election. The 2024 special election will feature Council position 3. For information about how to run for city council, click on the Candidate Information Packet link below.

After the May 21 special election, this page will be updated with information regarding the next regularly scheduled city council election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The 2024 regular election will feature positions 1 and 3. 

MAY 21, 2024 SPECIAL ELECTION CALENDAR FOR CITY CANDIDATES
November 21 (2023) Last day to establish residency in city limits.
February 12 First day to file nomination papers and petitions.
March 1 Suggested deadline to submit signatures for
verification to the city elections officer.
March 12 Last day to file nomination papers and petitions.
March 13
 
Last day for city elections officer to submit candidate signature sheets to the county election office for verificaiton.
March 15 Last day for candidates to withdraw.
March 21 Last day for city recorder to certify candidates to the county.
March 25 Last day for candidates to file voter pamphlet statement.
April 30 Last day to register to vote.
May 1 Ballots are mailed out.
May 21 Election Day
June 18
 
Election results certified at a city council meeting and Oath of Office administed to elected candidate.

There are three ballot drop boxes in Milwaukie. All drop boxes are outside and are open 24-hours-a-day during the weeks leading up to an election.
