Arbor Day 2024

Please join the City of Milwaukie for its annual Arbor Day celebration!

Trees make our community more livable by shading hot streets, cooling streets and homes, stabilizing soils, cleaning air and water, increasing property values, playing important cultural and historical roles, and contributing to the look and feel of the city.   

Teen Halloween Party

Craft a costume for a rubber duck, watch Addams Family Values (PG-13), and enjoy snacks with other 6-12th graders.   

Library Scavenger Hunt

Find 10 hidden pumpkins in the library for a prize. Stop by the children’s desk to get started. All ages. 

Poetry Discussion w/ David Biespiel

Local poet David Biespiel will lead a poetry discussion on the America poet Stanley Plumly. Plumly was an American poet and the director of University of Maryland, College Park's creative writing program. He is the author of numerous collections of poetry and was called one of the most English of American poets.

Ballet Papalotl

BALLET PAPALOTL MEXICAN FOLK DANCE PERFORMANCE

Sponsored by the Friends of Ledding Library

Everyone welcome – all ages. FREE.

Ballet Papalotl is an Oregonian youth, bicultural dance troupe, that has performed traditional Mexican folkloric dance since 2003. "Papalotl" means "butterfly" in the Aztec, or Nahuatl language.

Winter Celebrations

Fun for all ages! Celebrate winter holiday traditions from different cultures through music, games, hands-on activities and food. Learn more about Día De Los Reyes, St. Lucia Day, Dongzhi Festival, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. Enjoy a visit from Santa and Frosty at this festive, family-friendly experience. Sponsored by the Milwaukie Community Center Foundation.

Suggested donation for 18+ is $5. 

Halloween Bash and Movie Night

Celebrate all things ghoulishly delightful at NCPRD's fun-filled family Halloween event. Come dressed in costume and enjoy spooktacular trick-or-treat activities, crafts and more! After the festivities, stay for an indoor showing of the movie, Monsters Inc. Chairs will be available, but you are welcome to bring your seating. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase during the event.

Baby Sign Language

A baby sign language play and sing class with Christina Schabow. Ages infant to 18 months. Sponsored by the Friends of the Ledding Library.

No registration is required, but capacity is limited to the first 50 people.  

Sing & Sign

Sing, dance & learn some basic sign language with Shira Fogel of Tiny Talkers. Ages 2 - 5. Sponsored by the Friends of Ledding Library.

Library Playgroup

Join us in the Community Room for play time! Meet other caregivers and let your kids socialize while playing with library-provided toys. Ages 1-5.
