Data & Policies

Police policies are a critical component in guiding how the Milwaukie Police Department (MPD) provides services. The primary purpose of any policy is to provide clear direction to police department staff based on the most widely accepted best practices. The policies have to take into consideration the unique needs of the community, as well as the needs and challenges of the police department and the public safety profession in general. As an agency, it’s the MPD's responsibility to stay current with evolving best practice, case law and legislative changes.

ZA-2020-002

This application is for proposed amendments to Milwaukie Municipal Code (MMC) Title 18 Flood Hazard Regulations.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that communities keep their local flood hazard regulations current with federal standards in order to maintain eligibility for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  The City has participated in the NFIP for a long time, which allows property owners within the city limits to purchase flood insurance policies that are federally subsidized and therefore more affordable than flood insurance provided by

Bicycle Registration: Project 529

Every 30 seconds a bicycle is stolen in North America, no that’s not a typo. While our theft rate on bicycles is very low comparative to the rest of the region, it makes sense to take additional preventive measures to protect your investment to deter theft and provide the best chance your bicycle will be returned if stolen or missing.

Equity, Inclusion & Justice

Milwaukie is home to almost 22,000 people, each of whom has a unique identity that contributes to the tapestry of our community. Our community vision, adopted in 2017, describes a future which is entirely equitable, meaning that all people feel welcome, and no one faces disparities because of who they are.

City Council adopted equity, inclusion, and justice as a goal in August 2020 in response to the national reckoning around race and policing and reaffirmed this commitment in April 2023.
