Zoning Code Amendments Effective December 1, 2012
The amendments from the 2012 Residential Development Standards Update project are effective as of Saturday, December 1, 2012. The on-line version of the Milwaukie Municipal Code (http://www.qcode.us/codes/milwaukie/) has been updated based on the new amendments. Some things to be aware of with the new amendments are:
- Some sections of the Zoning Ordinance have new reference numbers. The most significant changes were to the residential standards, which have been reformatted for ease of use. Overall, these changes will make it easier to navigate through the code.
- Several new housing types are now allowed in the City, included detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs), cottage clusters, and rowhouses.
- There are new design standards for multifamily housing; the City did not have any before.
- There is more flexibility for additions to single-family homes.
- There have been revisions to some Planning Department Forms and Handouts. Up-to-date forms and handouts will be available on the city website at the end of the day on December 14, 2012. If you have printed hard copies or saved electronic copies of Planning Department forms and handouts, please download the updated versions from the City website or pick up a new copy from the Planning Department front counter (6101 SE Johnson Creek Blvd.).
