City donates ornamental manhole cover to local business
In Milwaukie you can find art in the strangest places.
On walks around her office across from Milwaukie Providence Hospital, Dr. Deanna Olson and members of her office have admired the ornamental manhole cover found in the middle of Llewelyn Street. The design featuring a blooming dogwood tree was created by resident Dolly Macken-Hambright and was the winner of a City contest back in 2005.
Wanting to mount the cover on the outside of the office now that she’s opening the Milwaukie Vein Center, which features a dogwood in its logo, Dr. Olson contacted the City and its Stormwater Supervisor Kenny Hill to see how she could get a copy.
“I’ve never been asked the question before, but we thought it was great she appreciated the design and wanted to showcase it at her business,” Hill said.
Hill presented Dr. Olson and members of her office the manhole cover on March 24, 2014.
Dr. Olson is a general surgeon and has been in her office at 3250 SE Llewelyn for about 10 years performing a variety of surgeries. Now she’s adding outpatient, minimally invasive leg vein treatments to the practice as the Milwaukie Vein Center.
